About Us
Friends of David and Shelbie Cho is a Non-stock non-profit corporation filed under Virginia state non-profit law. This corporation was set up to aid the Cho’s through Dave’s illness and to come alongside the family in the event of his passing, which occurred on June 1st, 2007. As of May 24th, 2007, you can view our Certificate of Incorporation. We are not affiliated with or part of any other organization, though most of us who are involved lived/worked/hung out with David Cho at various organizations he was involved with, McLean Bible Church, FCA, Young Life, Immanuel Bible Church, FCA, and others.
This corporation has three main purposes: to provide for Shelbie in the event of David’s passing by paying off all or a significant portion of their debt burden, to come alongside her in fixing the house, and coordinating the efforts of people who want to help the family. Our goal in accomplishing the retirement of the family’s debt and making the necessary repairs to the home is $500,000. We hope to raise that as soon as possible and will do so by the generosity of individual donors as well as a number of planned fund raisers, which you’ll hear more about in the near future.
Our board consists of President and Treasurer Eric Robertson, Secretary Joe Hartman. The very capable and respected Steve Gaskins and Jim Trafficant completed our board at the end of June, 2006.
We’ve retained the legal counsel of Gammon and Grange, P.C. of McLean VA, a law firm that specializes in setting up and representing non-profit corporations.
